With reference to the correspondence noted
in the margin, I have
the honour to state that
the necessity for setting the high limit of $200,000 for the value of the standard stock of the Public Works Department during 1921 will certainly be no less strong during 1922, in view of the large programme of public worke in contempla-
-tion.
Indeed, on account of the rapid growth of the Colony, it is doubtful whether it will ever be possible to reduce the figure below $200,000, and I would suggest that that limit might be retained for the present, and the question reconsidered after three years.
